Prowler
It's 12:30 am last night and I'm in the office working on a banner for youth conference when Shelby starts barking at the back door. Dale is out of town so my heart starts to beat a little faster. I go look out the glass door and see flash light beams briefly. Someone is out there! I go into my bedroom and look out the window and see the holder of the flashlight come through my back gate! I'm curious as to who it is and what they think they are doing coming in my yard. By this time, Shelby is scared out of her wits and won't leave my side. As I continue to watch this man, he goes to the back of my fence and starts looking over the edge. He must be looking for something or someone. Then it dawns on me, that's my next door neighbor. I wonder if he has lost his little doggie so I open the door. Weeeohhh Weeoohhh goes the loud house alarm. I turn it off and yell out the door, but he doesn't hear me. So now I'm worried that poor Benny has been eaten by an alligator. Then even worse thoughts go through my head, "What if their snake has escaped?" Well, Shelby and I snuggled together and went to bed at 1:30. After worrying all morning, Benny was outside and everything was fine. He was just playing hide and seek and didn't realize they didn't want to play. I'm so glad we didn't lose Shelby's play buddy.

Freaky! That would totally scare me...you seemed to handle that a lot better than I would have! I probably wouldn't have waited to see who it was...I would have called the police! :) Happy ending though!
Why do these things always happen when the man is out of the house!
If Bryce saw someone going through our backyard in the middle of the night with a flashlight, he'd go after them with a shotgun. He is very cautious of prowlers.
We put our blog to private so send me your email address and I'll send you an invite.

My heart was pounding reading your story! Shelby looks mad at Benny in the picture. That's funny!
Yikes!! I got chills reading this!! Good thing you know your neighbor so well, I'm not sure I'd be so helpful to ANYONE coming in our yard in the middle of the night!! You are a brave mama.
